Test 13 Results

Postby shrig94 » Sat Mar 05, 2011 9:13 pm

It was one of those uhh whatever days, ya know?
Number Sense: 290 (should've broken 300 T.T)
Math: 318 (Should've scored a 330+ T.T)
Calculator: 276 (ehh, not gonna complain considering that's my best meet score)
Science: like a 70-something (I'm glad it was positive)

Hey Shri,

I had a so-so day as well at our meet. I was still tired from the Calculus Bowl on Friday. For everyone else, this was the Flower Mound HS Meet.

Number Sense- 327 (Only got to 78 and missed 7)
Math-344 (Should have had 360- 2 extremely stupid mistakes)
Calculator- 216 (Not a good day at all)
Science 234 (76, 94, 66 decent but not great. Highest bio was 104 Jimmy Cao from FM, highest chem was 106 from HP, and high physics was only 72 from HP. That science test # so bad).

I'm going to start taking two tests a day in NS and a test every other day in math and calc. I need my calc score up for TMSCA.

By the way, you didn't do too bad at the Calculus Bowl. We won last year as well, so we knew what to expect this year. See you at TMSCA State in two weeks!

And just so you know, Nick had a 237 in NS, 320ish in math, 317 in calculator, and something mid 100s in science.

Had an off-day in NS :/.

150 in Number Sense
301 in Calculator (Should have been a 315 :'(...)
344 in Math (Like TFugere, I had dumb mistakes :/.)
Science: I have no idea, left before the results came out lol.

Good thing is there's benchmarking this week and spring break is next week so I'll have time to practice number sense for TMSCA state and won't have to deal with all the work my classes give :).

Agreed. I would love to hear how Kevin Chen did. And I will definitely be practicing over Spring Break. I'm assuming PSJA will be at TMSCA State? And are you a senior? Because if I remember correctly seniors compete for an all around senior award. I know PSJA is 5A, and I know that y'all aren't in our region (flower mound), so I guess I'll see you at the state meet in Austin as well. Good luck practicing.

PSJA will be at TMSCA State, and yes, I'm a senior. Seniors do compete for a "top gun" award, but there are 10 senior individuals total who receive a top gun honor I believe. Number one gets the most money though. I'm just hoping to do well in number sense (I really want to do good come UIL State, the more important of the two state meets for me), and win calculator and math hopefully. As for science, I don't have the time to study my bio :/. I know I could excel at the chemistry and physics part but I don't think I have what it takes to learn a lot of bio in 2 weeks time lol. Anyways, good luck practicing to you too, and I look forward to competing against you at both state meets :).

Also, TFugere, you stated that Nick got a 317 in calculator. I don't think that's even a possible score, assuming he did all the way to 70. Was that a typo for 217? Just out of curiosity.

Well, I think 317 is possible. If he had an SD, that would be 319, then adding 21 points would make it 340, which is getting through 68. So i'm guessing he answered 68, missed 3, and had 1 SD question wrong. That would work. But yes, he did. He demolished everyone at our meet. And as for the senior award, I'm hoping to place in the top five. My number sense, math, and science will place me well, but my calculator will lag behind. Assuming I can garner enough points from the others, I'm hoping to do well. As I'm sure you already know, it will be tough to beat Kevin Chen for overall senior. That is my goal.

Oh, I see. Congrats to Nick then, that's a great score. It's not often you see someone break a 300 in calculator without doing every single repeater nowadays. Looking back at the test though, there are going to be a lot of people breaking 300 in calculator this year if the test is going to be like the one Nick got a 317 on.

If I'm not mistaken, TMSCA takes place on the 19th of March (if not the 19th, it's the 18th or 20th) and it takes place at the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Nick and I will be an interesting competition.
I should surely win Number Sense.
Math is a toss up.
Calculator is leaning very much toward him.
Science is leaning quite toward him as well.
But it shall still be interesting. If I can pull off math and a disappointment in Calculator, I stand a good chance.

I'll post my two-cents:

I my opinion, the math test seemed more time consuming than normal; I skipped two problems I didn't have to and missed one due to time. Final Score: 334.

I failed NS, Calc, and Sci though.

As usual, La Feria places it's emphasis on Science.

Science Scores:
Me:224
John Butler: 196
All other scores typically ranged under 150

Top Guns:
Bio: John with a 104
Chem: Me with a 106
Physics: Me with a 52

Purty good. :)
La Feria Junior! You wish you were '12!
