Who's going? What are your goals? What is your grade/school? What events are you doing? Are you ready to destroy the competition (or not)?

This is Invitational B, and I hope it's not going to kill me. I usually do well on Invitational A (except for NS, and maybe Math, I didn't do as well as I had hoped, but I will hopefully do better here), but Invitational B isn't nice to me. I'm going to practice hard this week to get myself prepared for next Saturday. If you can't go to this one, are you going to an Invitational B competition of your own at another high school? After this, there is only 1 meet (or zero, depends on if I can go to one on March 3rd or so, because my Latin teacher has something mandatory planned that conflicts with UIL on Feb.25) left until TMSCA State (which nobody in my school has ever been to, and which I think nobody in my school stands too much of a chance, besides possibly the Science team and I) and District. District, Region, and State are approaching fast! I need to work on my Calculator skills, my Math, maintain my NS, do some more CS, and now, learn all of my Biology and Physics/Chemistry for Science. Lot's to do, and Saturday is a huge test! Hope to see anybody who is going there!

Just to get the original forum back up and running again, I will answer this again:

You WILL see me there
My goals are to score over 200 in Science, Mathematics, and score over 80 in Social Studies
If I could break those goals, I will be extremely proud of myself for all the incredible hard work I have put into UIL. I will then establish a 250+ or 300+ goal for Science and Mathematics.
Events Taking Part In: Number Sense, Calculator Applications, Science, Social Studies, Mathematics

Destroy the competition? Well I have won 4th place individual in Science two years back-to-back [Probably because they split Science not only into 9th/10th and 11th/12th grade divisions, but 1A-4A and 5A divisions as well]. We'll see how I do this time, this will be my final competition at Legacy. After all, I am a senior.

Awesome! Yes, I'd like to get this forum back again, but it's weird seeing all of the names that don't get on anymore on all of the topics.

Took 7 Invitational B NS tests [03-10, one was omitted] from my coach. 300+ on all of them, 310-355. Maybe they aren't THAT hard, but they have moderate difficulty at times. As for calculator, I've been really bombing the TMSCA tests my coach gave me, and by bomb, I mean BOMB.

My definition of BOMB is a negative score. I'm pretty sure you didn't do that bad.

And hey! I have a hard time scoring above 50 on Number Sense! It's just because I am not one of those people that can do all kinds of math in my head.

Haha, most people can't get above 50 or so. It's just that you never really did it, but I'm sure you would be really good if you did it as a freshman and all through high school. No, I didn't BOMB in your definition, but it seemed like I missed every question. I got a 122, and I missed like 29 questions. That was pretty painful.

So, how much have you been practicing? Less than two days remain until Saturday!

I've been taking some old Invitational B tests [2009,2010,2011], my highest score being a 174 - using my TI-89 Titanium. Not really stupid mistakes, but just trying to solve as many questions as possible fast, I like to call "speed mistakes". But it shows I may have a decent chance at breaking 200 by districts.

I burned quite a bit of time mis-entering things... Grr.. This just shows that I am not yet completely used to using it.

I am going to study it up in Science and Social Studies Friday ~ Just my notes. I kind of frustrated myself over doing too much Math in a very short period of time. "Math overload" I like to call it.

I've nearly exhausted my NS materials (besides a few Dr.Numsen tests, which I dislike), so no more TMSCA or previous Invitational B tests NS tests are left for me to take.
Math is an event that I haven't been practicing much, and I've been asking my coach to get some packets of Math tests for us. Unfortuantely he hasn't gotten them in time for this meet.
I've been focusing on Calculator lately, learning formulas (still more I need to learn, in fact, a lot more), and taking several tests. Thursday, today, was my scheduled cram session, with Friday possibly being mostly review.
Science is an event that I told myself to study, and I have, lightly, although I have to memorize the Physics formulas, so they will stick during the competition. Finished the Kaku book a while ago.
I've been neglecting to do CS, I took one non-UIL test and got a 142 (hardest test I've ever seen), so I might need to do that, but I think I'll stick to Calculator/Science.

My goal is to break 300 in NS in competition, and get 350+, my goal for a while, oen that I haven't been able to achieve. Maybe 350 is too high of a goal, but I like to set high goals in NS. Hopefully, my handwriting won't cost me this time (last time, it took away my first opportunity at a 300.) How can I improve my handwriting? I get 'into the moment' and write fast, therefore completely annihilating my handwriting. My zeros and sixes become indistinguishable. I also want to break 200, possibly 220-230 in Calculator. In Math, I don't know what to expect, but hopefully I get beat 275. In Science, I want top Biology and 1st 9/10. For CS, I hope I can get a 1st place, but I don't know if hat would happen. I got a 176 and then a 200 at the only two meets that I've done CS in, and have gotten 3rd both times. With little practice since, I doubt this will improve by much.

For anyone that is attending the meet, can you give a characteristic of yourself so that we can recognize each other? Once again, I wil be about 6'2", wearing a maroon SEM letterman, with black glasses and jeans. Hopefully you will see me when they announce awards for each of the events mentioned above :D.

Ah, you had the handwriting issue too! Although I was lucky and my 4's and 9's were still distinguishable by the test graders...

I want to tell them that I write my 4's using all straight lines and my 9's have that "loop" with just a straight line going up. I just have to make sure I don't hold down my pen and continue writing after I draw the loop, otherwise they would think it is a 4.

You have me as a friend on Facebook ~ For a picture description of me, just look at the guy in the Texas A&M shirt on my old profile picture. Haha this picture was taken WAY back, Homecoming to be exact. I was one of the Flag Runners for whenever my school scored, field goal or touchdown, against Burleson.

I probably would be wearing my Senior Year Black T-Shirt at the meet as I did the last meet.

Oh yes, I could easily just look at your picture there. Still, I need a description of everyone else. I don't really have many pictures on FB, although I have a camera. I don't bother with it, but I've been having that picture for an eternity, so I should change it soon. I was imagining that if I won really big at a competition, which dozens of medals (exaggeration) I could post a pic of me striking a 'victory pose', not staged, but like the sports players who flex their arm and make a fist, but at a slant in front of their body. I know that's a weird explanation, but it's really simple, natural, and just a silly idea I came up with. See you, and everyone else there, I guess!

By the way, the picture on my profile is a picture of me at school as a freshman by a friend, so I probably look a little different.

Finally got a dose of real competition, and a lesson in humility last meet. This girl, Amy Kuprasetkul, lost to me by 2 pts in NS (269-267, nobody has ever gotten anywhere close this year), beat me by 19 in Calc (218-199), 18 in Math (298-282), and I know she got owned in Science (SEM won top 3 9/10 easy, with top Bio/Chem/Physics, I got a 228, 2nd). I don't know if she does CS.

My coach showed me the TMSCA State results today, and her name was there. She was the #2 freshman in Math and the #4 in NS. It's been a year after TMSCA State, and I've barely practice Math, started Calculator fairly recently, and had no middle school practice, with the scores that close. If I practice hard enough, I think I can beat her and many of the other people in my division.

The funny thing is that people from a certain middle school, which sends many of its students to my school, constantly got owned by her, at every competition. One guy beat her ONCE, and after that, nothing ever got to that point. She swept every competition. Now, it looks as if I have to avenge them, since none of those guys really practice that much.
One guy said he would pull for her, as a joke, next time we meet. I can't let her beat me!

I'm going to try to study Math big time now, and I think at TMSCA State, my NS and SC scores will carry me, with Calculator hopefully improving a lot and Math getting up there also. I'm aiming for top gun! Hopefully the NS 'choke factor' that I've experienced will disappear, as I really want to become focused during the test and DESTROY the test. I've improved very little since that time. Also, I had another handwriting mistake, so does anyone have any suggestions on how to improve handwriting?
