So close from 1st place in your district ! I'm going to have to go into overdrive mode from here-on-out until Regionals to score that high...

Its gonna be lonely road to regions for me, I'm the only one in my math and science team to qualify for regions
Science I barely survive Grapevine and Colleyville, they was bombarded us with their awesomeness that, and its their home field advantage

Oh yeah. Did you know? We're the retarded rich kids! =D We're building a 16 million dollar football stadium, but we're not putting any funding aside for building a new high school. We only have one. It's so overpopulated that it's not even funny.

I"m the opposite, i come from a very poor school, with little people, and since we have many of us making Region, were taking the "charter bus" and a van. Were leaving at 6:00 friday morning to compete at 4:00 for the first event, we stay a night and complete s'more saturday, wait for results, and drive back(7hr drive). The speaking events leave on thursday with the computer science "team", just because they all compete like an hour before us, that's dumb, and it's not too much being money the problem because there's enough, it's just that they spend too much of it on sports, but i guess that's how it is everywhere.

We aren't rich at all. Budget cuts left us fairly broke. However, we set aside enough money for UIL, and we're taking a HUGE team to Regionals! Go look at how much we dominated!
Oh yea, and we don't have to worry about sports. There is a rule that magnet schools cannot have sports. Therefore, we have money set aside for other things, such as AP funding and UIL.
Taking a bus to Baylor in Waco! Last year, we spent the night, and I assume we will do the same this year. However, I just hope I can help at least one Math/Science team reach State, because I think I have an excellent chance of making State this year, and I don't want to go alone. Maybe the current events team or another team can come along as well!

Our school receives grants, but, in my opinion, uses them poorly. We had one for a tornado evacuation "dome" that could also be used for a basketball stadium. The school felt the need to have 8 scoreboards (we are 1A), and a spectacular concession stand with a dining area. What makes it a poor decision is that there are only three-hundred or so seats, barely enough to hold all of the district. Plus, it is on the opposite side of the high school, so walking over there with a tornado nearby may not be the best idea. Also, the baseball field is owned by a member of the community, but he makes the school district pay for them to play on it. I'm not degrading sports, but I do believe there needs to be a decisive line between the academics budget and the athletics budget. The only reason I got the UIL supplies I wanted was because I won state last year.

@FabensMath, I think you can, but it affects every activity. You can't compete in 4A for academics, but your school's baseball team compete in 3A. Plus, I think the deadline to submit that request has passed.

My school doesn't spend money on sports, because when our football team made playoffs last year, it was the first time in ~8 years.
RANT (by my standards)
We actually don't have much money to spend. All of the money in Denton ISD goes to the jocks at Denton Ryan and at Denton Guyer.
You'd think the school district would care that we had TEN UIL state academics qualifiers last year, or that we have had consistently more all-state musicians than the other schools in Denton ISD. But no, they only care about whoever has the better football team. :(

Please, come to our district so we can take this cash and make it useful, rather than dumping it to improve people's chances of bowling each other over over a brown oddly shaped ball.
