Well, true, but with the addition of Westwood a few days ago, I am in jeopardy. I was always in jeopardy in Math, with NS being pretty locked down and CA being somewhat of a challenge.
In NS, Kevin Tian got a 279. I got a 296, Abhishek from Klein got a 291, and Will Linz got a 265.
So my Region, those within 50 pts, has 296-291-279-265 at District. Someone isn't going to State :O
All I have to do to make State is get above ONE of those people, but a few bad mistakes or a bad sleep will drop you significantly.
It's good that I'm in the lead right now, but it is by no means locked down.
Team-wise, we're in the running, but I'm not sure if we can catch Klein. I think we need about 30 points or so.
For Math, Region will be a shootout.
Kevin Li got a 348. I got a 338. Kevin Tian got a 336. There were I believe 4 others in our Region above 300.
So the scores run 348-338-336-318-316-308-302, above 300. And, there was a question omitted, which would've raised these scores even more, and maybe even brought someone else above 300.
Now definitely, some people aren't going to State. My team will not win Region, as the other teams are a bit too tough.
Yes, I am second in the Region, but look at how tough those are. One or two bad mistakes, and I'm out.
For Calculator, I have a good lead, but not an insurpassable one.
I tied someone with a 234. Then, you have a 206, 3 199s, a 193, 3 192s (one from my school), and a 185 within 50 pts.
That's 234-234-206-199-199-199-193-192-192-192-185.
So, although I have a lead, I could once again drop a couple questions, then have two people jump and catch me, and I don't advance.
With that many people in that range, it's VERY dangerous.
The good thing is we're #1 in the Region right now, but only by a few points, and two of my team members will not practice. It's only I and the 192 practicing (and she's practicing hard, I'm very glad she's on the team. I really don't want to let her down and not let her go to State, especially since she's a senior). The other two got a 164 and 157, but I don't doubt their ability to produce a 120.
So yes, I still have a huge challenge and quite a bit of work ahead of me in these coming two weeks.
