Summer Programs

Hey guys. We have a broad range of people on the forum, from those who are beginning freshmen or middle-schoolers, to long-time coaches and college students. Personally, I'm going to be a junior next year, and I will be applying to several summer programs next year. I want to ask about suggestions people have as far as math/science summer camps go (free please, I don't think I have the money to pay a couple thousand dollars for a program.)

So far, I'm determined on applying to the following programs:

RSI (extreme longshot, I think I have a very tiny chance of getting in, because my lack of research/large competitions/general beastness)
MITES (it's tough to get in, but I think it's a bit easier than RSI, I'm considered a minority (URM, under-represented minority), and I think it might fit me better than RSI)
TASP (heard of it, heard that it's a really good program, will research more on it soon)

And that's it so far. I've only started looking fairly recently (past couple of weeks). Any suggestions on other programs, tips on how to apply/what I could do to increase my chances, etc.? Did anyone ever do any of these programs, or know someone who did?

For a closer-to-home research opportunity, there is UTD's Nanoexplorers program. For those of you interested in the medical field, Stanford has the SIMR research program. Then, you have those prestigious mathematics ones like MOSP, etc.

Check out: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/summer-programs/ for other programs.
