Also, I know there are really good seniors (like Adeesh, and Dominic if Paschal comes), and really good sophomores (especially Ross), but are there any really good juniors going? I don't know many of the schools that are coming, since we've never been to Flower Mound before. I would like to see who I'm going to be up against.

Let's just say that there are going to be a lot of schools (we do every event). I think you [nsguy] would be one of the best juniors (if not the best) seeing you only came behind Bobby Shen at State and won Top Gun at TMSCA :P

It will be interesting to see. Last year at TMSCA State, the top four Top Gun-wise were me, Mitchell Hwang, Aditya Jain, and Amy Kuprasertkul I believe. I heard that Amy went to TAMS, and she is the only one I saw in a local competition (Inv. B at Legacy in Mansfield, I think.) Mitchell and Aditya are in Dulles/Clements. I guess I'll find out if there are any rising juniors in this area, and maybe for TMSCA State in March.

I'll also be looking out for freshman and sophomores especially, to see how my underclassmen are doing in comparison to them.

All they need are supporting coaches and kids who are willing to put in effort. They can do it though.

I trying to work really hard, but I don't usually do well until the second half of the year (blasted summer -_-).

But everyone here (pretty much) works their butt off, and results show.

lol, I never knew that until last night.

Well, in 5A there were 6, in 4A there were 8 (6 from my school!), and in 3A there were 11. As you can see, it gradually increases. That said, I think the 1A's and 2A's would be around 12. Obviously, there is more funding in those two areas.

I used to live in Austin and San Antonio, though. There was absolutely NO promotion of UIL there. I learned about UIL in 8th grade.

I didn't even know about UIL until last year. What does that say about my district/school?

When I went to a meet in San Antonio last year, it was only the third meet I went to, and I got like 2th overall in one competition and like 5th in another, and I # then, like no where near where I was at the end of the year (which was alright I guess).

But yeah, various areas have their own expertise in some area. Typically in areas that are filled with 5A schools would dominate the 5A competition because they have to compete with each other and constantly have to beat each other out, unlike out of the way 5A schools. Same is true with all the other schools.

Is there a lot of 5A/4A/3A schools in the Austin/San Antonio area?
