UIL Fantasy League Draft

Fredfredburger, I took your rules list and made the necessary adjustments. The part about substitutes seemed like it would just complicate things...let's just leave it out.

Also, can someone plug the names into some random generator to pick a draft order?

Rules and Procedures
1. Teams will consist of 10 players, with 1 player each in NS, Calc, Math, and Science, and Utility for both 5A and non-5A.
2. The total percentage points that a competitor earns is given by his score divided by the average of the top six scores in the state in their respective event.
3. The utility competitor has the average of his top two percentages taken to give his total percentage points.
4. A draft will be conducted in a snake like pattern, draft positions will be randomly assigned.
5. Trades are legal, but must be approved by at least 2 other members not involved in the trade (to make sure no one gets too powerful).
6. You are welcome to pick yourself, or let others pick you.
7. You can not pick the same competitor for two slots and must have 10 different people on your team.
8. Top 3 scorers in state will get bonus points: 5% for 1st, 3% for 2nd, 2% for 3rd.

Sounds good to me, although picking 10 people might take a while. I say we wait a day or two before the draft so that we can get anyone else who is interested signed up before we start.

Right, I know...just trying to make sure we have everything in place. Once everything's set up, we can pick a draft order and choose a time that's a few days out.

It might be too early, but I went ahead and did a lottery with the people that are in it right now, here was the draft order.

It's a snake order. So in the second round, you'll have the first pick, and I'll have the last (the order reverses). Then the order will keep reversing each round after that. Effectively, you'll have two picks whenever you go but will have to wait a really long time in between.

And each round isn't going to be specifically designated for one position - ex. the first overall pick could be a 5A science, then the guy who picks right after that could pick a 4A math. After the draft, everyone will have to arrange their lineup of 10 chosen people how they like and then submit it.

I had forgotten about this, and now it seems a bit late to do this. Maybe we shouldn't worry about it and just hope for the best! Making predictions without a draft seems fine to me, considering the time squeeze we're in now.

So let's scratch the draft and do this instead:

Just pick the lineup of 10 people that you would ideally want in your 10 spots. No using the same person more than once. The teams will have some overlap, but it'll be more about which subjects you put people in.

(remember, people can play up but not down. So a 4A-er is allowed in 5A, a 3A-er is allowed in 4A or 5A, etc.)
