The Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science would like to cordially invite you to our first annual TAMS Tournament. It will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2008 at the University of North Texas in Denton. We will host a day of challenging, original tests in many different levels of math, science, and logic. Your school will have the opportunity to interact with many other Texas schools in an exciting, competitive environment.

Our tests will require the use of creativity, insight, and originality, rather than knowledge of formulae. Individual tests will be offered in the following subjects: Probability and Logic, Geometry, Algebra, Calculus, Special Topics in Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, and Computer Science (Java). Students will be able to select two of these tests to take, and will also participate in a team mathematics event. All science tests will be multiple choice, while math tests will be short answer, with the exception of the Special Topics test, which will be in proof format. Awards will be presented for high-scoring individuals, teams, and schools.

For further information, please contact one of the following tournament executives. Thank you for your consideration and we hope to hear from you soon.
