TMSCA state

How do you qualify for TMSCA state?
Is it like uil with district, regionals and then state?
I heard my teacher mention it the other day and wanted to know.

There is no qualifying for TMSCA state. All you have to do is sign up, and you're in.

For HS there is no qualification. Your school needs only to be a member of TMSCA.

For MS, there's qualifying scores set in December by grade level, and qualifier meets in late February/early March. IIRC, you have to score above the qualifier score at a qualifier, or get one of the top three positions to qualify for the TMSCA Championship Meet in that event. Qualifying in one event only allows you to compete in that event, so you must qualify separately in each event to take that contest at the Championship meet.

I'm not a MS coach, so I may be wrong.

But I also heard that you have to have won at least one first place in that event to compete at TMSCA State.

If you're competing at the high school level, you just need to get your math/science team coach (assuming you have one) to sign up as a TMSCA member and to register for TMSCA State. There's no requirements, past the monetary fees, and deadline is usually around the end of February. If you're doing middle school, then i haven't a clue.

In middle school you have three qualifying meets. A qualifying score (there is a chart for each grade and event that says what the needed score is) or a top 3 finish in an event will qualify you for state.
