Math/Science Fantasy League?

Postby Celsion » Wed Mar 26, 2008 2:23 am

Someone mentioned this before. (Brad did?)

There are five positions(subjects) you need to fill.
NS, Calc, Math, Sci, Comp Sci, 2 "Bench"

All UIL competitors are pooled to be drafted.

There is District/Region/State, with the pool decreasing of course. So whoever isn't drafted can be picked up in "free agency," with people not advancing to a higher competition dropped from a team.

After each competition, the people who you put in as your "starters" scores for the subject you put them in will be totaled up.

If you've ever played any fantasy sports before, it's really similar, in a way. >_<

Depending on how many people sign up, maybe this can be set up?

Set up a draft order after. Feel free to contribute ideas to this horrible idea.
:)

Will Mr. Game and Watch be included?

EDIT: 512 posts! I should never post again. I probably will, though.

Klein drafts = too good?
Seriously.

But if I'm understanding it correctly, then it would be like
NS: Worlow
Calc: Roel
Math: Alex Ryan
Sci: Brian T
Comp Sci: uhh...some kid from Elkins? I really don't know who is good at CS (sorry >.< )
Alternates: Myself/Brad

?
2009 High/Low Scores (NS/Calc/Math/Sci)
NS: 328/328 (lol SAC)
Calc: -/-
Math: 146/146 (SAC Again)
Sci: -/-

well i guess, but it's a draft
there's a pool of people you pick from
you won't get the best person in each subject because you will pick one person from the pool, then someone else will, then so on
and then your turn comes again...
then from your group of 7, you pick a group of 5 for region and a group of 5 for state

Yay! I'm in the NS group! But what happened to my last name? It's definitely not "G". Oh well. Just wondering though if the pool can only include 5A students, as there are some pretty high scorers from Argyle as well.

I'm not sure I remember the good scorers really well, but I think that for math Erik Katzen from Argyle could be considered, and Joey Reyes from Bridgeport could be considered for number sense. However, it may be a good idea to look up the district 8 3A scores as I'm not definite that those are the high scorers.

I'll make your job easier. Here's who you should include from 3A:

NS
None, If anyone, Joey Reyes from Bridgeport, but really 5A scores are generally much higher than 3A this year.

Calc
In all fairness, there's several guys to consider including (but not limited to):
Nick Robertson from Bridge City
Brett Bertles from Bridge City
Joey Reyes from Bridgeport
Stephen Dotson from Bridge City
Tyler Kass from Argyle
Matthew Deaver from Silsbee
Erik Katzen from Argyle
If you chose to include 3A CA competitors, start and the top of this list and work your way down because I've ordered them generally by average score. There are actually a few others not included in this list who have beaten the mighty 5Aers on your list at district, but I'm inclined to assume those guys (and girls) from 5A average higher than these others from 3A, so I did not include them. Thus, what I'm trying to say is that just looking at the scores from the 3A district competition slightly misleading, and I hope you will trust my judgement and limit yourself to including these competitors I've listed here on your list of competitors (that is, if you decide to include any more people from 3A)

Math
Erik Katzen from Argyle
Thomas Quintana from Argyle
Nick Robertson from Bridge City
No one else is really worthy

Science
Thomas Quintana from Argyle
Also, I'm not sure, but I think Highland Park in 4A has some good scores, so you might want to check there and see if you want to include them.

This can include 1A-5A
NS - anybody else?
Calc - North Shore needs to be added, but who else?
Math - anybody else?
Science - This list needs to be modified alot because i know no science pros

Edit: Post here/PM Celsion if you are interested in this...Probably need 8 people for this to work
Edit2: The list will be finalized with the District Scores (Wednesday or Thursday)
Edit3: Though the list will have most of the preferable draftees, you are not limited to the list

NS-I can't really think of anyone else for the list.
CA-Not sure, but I think Wade Jansa from 1A Garden City(?) could be on the list.
MA-I think some people could be-
1. Katheryn Shi, Dulles
2. Sumit Gogia, Science Academy
3. Naoki Eto, McAllen Memorial
SCI- Tianen Li, Highland Park
other Highland Park people

In 1A, Dillon Hanson has put up some good numbers. I believe he's a sophomore.
