What's the simplest way of multiplying [unparseable or potentially dangerous latex formula]? Such as [unparseable or potentially dangerous latex formula]. I usually use LOIF (Last, Outside, Inside, First) to multiply 2 two-digit numbers.

I hate to say it, but everybody is wrong.
It's not FOIL.
It's not LOIF.
It's not LIOF.
It's FIOL.
Sheesh.

when i do things like 21 x 12... i do it backwards.
20 * 10 + 10*1 + 20*2 + 2...
but I switch to starting from the front for things like 133 x 211
