The thing is is that there really isn't any shortcut to do the the derivative. You have to apply the quotient rule mentally, which is something you don't really see on the UIL number sense test. In that format, it usually asks for inverse functions rather than derivatives, which is why I added the inverse part there. They typically require you to use the power rule and to memorize some derivatives, but that's typically it. Math tests takes it on another whole level, but on number sense, that's about it.
Luckily, this problem can be done mentally, which I had tried doing before answering the problem, and I'm sure many others could too. It just takes a bit of practice writing it out first, then trying these problems mentally.
