Regional 2009:
OMG! Perfect front page...
Made REALLYdumb mistakes on the third column...
@nsguy: I tried your trick - u no - moving ur fingers in the air...
Anyways...
5.6 + 1.12 + 0.224 + 0.0448 +... = ?[/tex]
Well I tried fractions... I failed... How do you do this quickly?
[unparseable or potentially dangerous latex formula]
Larger root?
IS THERE A QUICK METHOD RATHER THAN JUST DOING THE QUADRATIC FORMULA???!!?!??!!?!?

The first page of this test was pretty easy.
5.6/5 is 1.12.
Sum=[unparseable or potentially dangerous latex formula]
Sum= 5.6*(5/4) = 1.4*5 = 7

Factoring really is the only other way. The function [unparseable or potentially dangerous latex formula] factors into [unparseable or potentially dangerous latex formula]. The negative sign means a larger root (if you know what I mean).

Well nsguy... ur good at doing this stuff. I have tried earlier to use the quadratic formula and it takes me a min of 30 sec. to do it and I am not ready to waste that time...
How do you factor in your head? any quick ways?

Practice.
Either method works, it's just how fast can you do either. Personally, I typically used the factor method, but I sometimes use the quadratic formula if the equation just "looks" compicated at the time.
