Study Techniques

How do you, the best of the best, study?
I usually just take practice tests over and over.
This helps me, but after a while, I run out of tests, and I need to work on accuracy.
I'll answer around 60 problems, but get around 5-10 wrong, depending on the day, especially at meets because of my nerves.
Please help me.
I was really close to qualifying to state this year.
I would have gone if it was not for 3 very stupid mistakes.

well, personally

i think practice + deriving the tricks = success

if i personally derive the tricks, i understand them better thus i am quicker with them

everything else is just getting used to the tests...(aka practice)

The Only 2 ways there is to get better i know of is to: 1. keep taking tests, but keep going after 10 min. or 2: Use study sheets (like a sheet or squares or cubes or lucky numbers...stuff like that) and memorize things to get faster. But if you realy want to know things like this, ask the kids from shallowater... they killed us this year!

I didn't start practicing NS ever until after district of this year (lol)...a bit late for that. Although I practiced using a sound file I made, that states what number I should be on...incrementing every 7/8 seconds (I have one that does 7, one that does 8). My rule was that I must have at least gotten to (or passed) whatever number was called out each increment. If I didn't finish the problem in the time allotted, I would skip it as a rule (no matter how close I was to finishing it).

I have the problem of being slow, but I found that helped a lot. Whereas before TMSCA state, I used to only get to 45....after doing that a few times, I now get to 60-80 on tests (usually 65-70). Unfortunately, it didn't help my accuracy very much, lol.

Oh well....I'm a senior, and I didn't make it to state in NS. So I won't be doing that anymore, lol.

Edit: Cool, someone from Slaton on the forums too. That's only like 10-15 miles from Lubbock...and actually closer to my house than Lubbock since I live in a suburb between the two, hahaha.

Our school(Clements) basically relies on what we learned in middle school...and thats about it

Learn to dominate the the 'hard' level Dr. Numsen tests and you can do anything

I am a Soph.. so i still got 2 more years to do this...i guess you go to lubbock high or something like that?
