getting a 200

I need to get between 200-250 on the calculator test. Can someone please, please give me a way to get a 200-250 on the calculator test and doing a minimal amount of word problems? I am not good at the word problems so please give me a way to get a 200-250 by doing a small amount of word problems.. Thx

Without word problems (well, the harder ones), you need 100% or maybe 97% (miss 1) on the number crunchers. You need to do ALL of them, and get all of them correct. That'll get you, 115 points?
Then, lets say you can do 5 of the geometry. That'll net you 150. Plus 5 of the stateds on the first few pages, you're at 199. One more problem and you're there!
Remember, this is with five geometry and basically perfect accuracy of the number crunchers.
If you want 250, you're gonna need to learn your stated problems. The scaling, linear regression, matrix, area under curve, and solvers aren't that hard (well, once you learn them, I still need to learn them, sort-of. Not 100% on the scaling/lin. reg. yet). Those are free points if you can get them.
And, you're going to need a lot of speed! That's a good enough plan. Make sure your NCs are accurate, then learn your geom/stated problems. You're going to need to learn them.

I think the HP32Sii is best, though. I've heard that the 32 dominated the contest, and then people were in panic because it was canceled.

God, that score is almost impossible. Last meet, I barely got over a 200, scoring just 5 points over that mark. I'm really fast; I can do all of the number crunchers with the handy dandy HP33 in approx 14-16 min, but when I hit the word problems starting on the 3rd page.... XPXPXPXPXPXPXPXPXP. It's like Calculus and Statistics and Probability in there all the way. Oh god. Bad memories.

Just practice the number crunchers until you're god at them, then memorize a crap load of formulas and practice word problems. Some are standard, some you won't know 'till you're in college, lol, and some are just put there so that the creators of the test can troll you. I remember that I took a TMSCA high school test, and the last problem was the easiest out of the entire test. Trolololol, woot.

I got 199 in the last meet.
I don't know what else to do... just learn things, but that gets boring. I really need to, though. Tryouts for teams are this week! Calculator is Monday and Wednesday afterschool.
I'm pretty confident I'll make it, since nobody really practices at my school.
I can finish crunchers in 10 min or so, but then get stuck. I always miss a bunch of stated/geom as well, even the ones I attempt.

My coach can be helpful sometimes, and he is a new coach. He's also an excellent Math teacher. In fact, he taught me Math both years so far.
I passed him in NS, but he can still show me new things in Math and Calculator.

I kinda over-passed my coach by a lot last year, so he can't really help me in calculator or in math, but he can still show me a lot in ns since i'm a beginner, but i think i prefer to ask Wesley in this forum, he knows a lot more lol.

Oh, well that explains your incredible scores 007math. I'm 5A as well, so we might be seeing each other at State.

Lucky for me my district is super easy...9-4A, 2nd place NS last year was a 68.

Wow... yea, my District wasn't too bad either, I won with a 145.
Region was a different story however, AND my region was the weakest 5A. I got whooped.
I hope to change that this year.

My region is probably the hardest 4A...Highland Park, Longview Pine Tree, etc. But I looked at the state-qualifying scores from last year, and I'm sure I can make by next year, if not this year.

What were your scores? I could only see places, not scores.

Not so great. Aledo scores were 169 for NS, 182 for Calc, and 170 for Math. "Inv. B" was in DeSoto, and it was a really small meet, easy to win first at. The tests were definitely UIL tests, though. 205-ish in NS, 170-ish in Calc, and 218 in Math.

I went to Desoto last year. I got a 42, I believe. It was before I got serious, and I think it was my first or second meet. I only did NS then.
I walked home :D I live a couple minutes walk away.
The meet was pitiful... but I got to see my homeschool, now that I'm at SEM, a much better school, instead.
