5. A deficient number is when the sum of its divisors is less than twice the number.
The sum of divisors of 848 is 1674 and twice the number is 1696

credit union: [unparseable or potentially dangerous latex formula]
bank: [unparseable or potentially dangerous latex formula]
$30 difference
Basically what I did was the formula: [unparseable or potentially dangerous latex formula], where A is the amount of money of interest, p is the amount owe, r is the interest rate and t is the time in years.
Find the total money owed and divide it by the time in months

47. How many pairs of integers [unparseable or potentially dangerous latex formula] will solve the equation [unparseable or potentially dangerous latex formula]
(NEXT TIME TYPE THE QUESTION, FOR PEOPLE LIKE ME ARE LAZY TO LOOK UP THE TEST)
Well, to solve this, try substitution:
[unparseable or potentially dangerous latex formula]
[unparseable or potentially dangerous latex formula]
[unparseable or potentially dangerous latex formula]
[unparseable or potentially dangerous latex formula]
[unparseable or potentially dangerous latex formula]
[unparseable or potentially dangerous latex formula]
Then try any other integer, and you cannot find a third pair for all the y values will result in fractions.
So, [unparseable or potentially dangerous latex formula] or [unparseable or potentially dangerous latex formula]

So basically, this was my logic.
If I have found two solutions.
The choices were 0, 1, 2, 3, infinitely many
0 and 1 can be eliminated since I have two solutions.
If you try 3, you get a fraction so I thought infinitely many would not work
I am down to two.
Either think or guess.
I guess GUESSING would work if you had two choices...
However, getting at the right ans like nsguy is probably better

...yeah, I would say no to do that^^^. You'll find that a lot of the people who are uber successful on these test know how to do every problem on the test and never resort to guessing. The only reason that perfect scores aren't all over the place is because of stupid mistakes. Just try not to guess...
