Could someone please help me with problem 43 on District 2 2002?

A portion of incident light is reflected at the interface of two materials with different indices of refraction such as air and glass. In order to reduce the reflection from the interface one can add a layer of transparent material with the following properties.

1) The material deposited must have an index of refraction greater than that of the glass.
2) The material deposited must have an index of refraction in between that of glass and air.
3) The thickness of the material must be quarter of the wavelength in the material.
4) The thickness of the material must be half a wavelength in the material.

A) 1,3
B) 1,4
C) 2,3
D) 2,4
E) 1

The answer is C.
