I don't take anything with JAVA and I am my own coach, so... probably not that good...

Unless tmsca just added it in the 2008-2009 school year, TMSCA doesnt do comp sci. CS tests at tmsca competitions are written by third party sources

i'd suggest http://www.bluepelicanjava.com/ .. it's a free textbook. its geared for uil and i learned a decent amount from it.

CS (written, not hands-on) is a pretty trivial contest though. It always seemed to focus on trivial minutia and dedicated only a few questions to legitimate programming knowledge. Set your sights higher. Focus on a loftier goal, such as the holy grail of UIL: a 400 on a number sense test.
